"Defer Loans NOT Dreams"

 

I love slogans! My most popular one that I write on the board as a guest teacher is "If you lack effort, you lack skill." My message, whether as a speaker, educator, or poet is filled with passion, purpose, and relativeness. 

 

My students call me "Ms. Rockett". My friends call her "Gabby", yet none can call me with excuses. They don't want to hear a speech they tell me. Lol

 

Being born and raised in E. St. Louis, Ill I found I could relate to the many environmental challenges that my inner city youth/students face, so I use stories to make my point. My goal is to always use my voice to direct, guide, and positively influence. My father proudly reminds me of my 4th grade performance as the narrator of a stage play, ensuring me that I was born to lead.

 

I am a self-proclaimed change agent, serial entrepreneur, and comedian. I've done it all! 

 

I was main character in two stage plays: Four Women Blues and The Vagina Monologue: A Black Women's Interpretation.  In both my bachelor's and master's program, I graduated Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude, respectively.  My most recent accomplishments are: January 2017 - 1st place in TKO Leadership Speaking contest; June 2017 - 1st place in her 2nd comedy competition. 

 

Now I am returning back to my hood like sankofa, to rehab homes and develop Defer Loans NOT Dreams Tutoring & Mentoring Program.
